Metrolink Train Evacuated After Alleged Bomb Reference

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — Dozens of passengers aboard a Metrolink train were evacuated Tuesday after a report of a possible reference to a bomb.

About 50 passengers were taken off Train No. 286 at the downtown Burbank station at 201 North Front St. after authorities were notified around 12:28 p.m., according to Metrolink spokesman Scott Johnson.

Burbank police and Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies were called in to investigate.

Preliminary reports indicated a passenger walking through the train heard another passenger making a reference to a bomb, Johnson said.

Train No. 109 was delayed at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles before departing as the next train to Burbank.

The train was searched and cleared to return to service around 2:30 p.m.
