Man Shot In Neck During Drive-By Shooting In Pasadena

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — A man remained hospitalized on Tuesday after being shot in the neck during a drive-by shooting in Pasadena.

Around 12:30 a.m., officers were sent to the eastbound 210 Freeway near Fair Oaks Avenue for report of shots fired with a victim, according to the Pasadena Police Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities located a male victim in the 300 block of South Lake Avenue.

Paramedics transported him to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound in the neck. Hospital officials said the victim has been listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was driving with a female passenger on the freeway, just before Lake Avenue, when their car was shot at several times.

The man was able to get off the freeway and drove to a nearby residential area before he reported the incident to police.

The woman did not sustain injuries during the shooting.

California Highway Patrol officers subsequently closed all eastbound lanes of the freeway until around 5 a.m., officials said.

Detectives described the suspect vehicle only as being silver in color.

At this time, it remains unclear how many people traveled in the suspect vehicle.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear.

Officers are investigating if road rage was involved in the incident.

Anyone with information regarding this incident has been urged to contact the Pasadena Police Department at (626) 744-4620 or (626) 744-4241.
