Man Pleads No Contest In Fatal Hollywood Boulevard Stabbing
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A homeless man has pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing of a woman in Hollywood after a jury failed to reach a verdict in his murder trial.
Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office officials said Tuesday that Dustin James Kinnear is expected to get 12 years in prison.
Earlier Tuesday, a jury in Kinnear's murder trial told a judge they were hopelessly deadlocked.
Another defendant, Jason Joel Wolstone, pleaded no contest in April to assault and received two years in prison.
In June 2013 the victim, Christina Calderon, was attacked after she and a friend took a photograph of three men outside the Hollywood & Highland Center and declined to give them money.
Prosecutors say Wolstone pushed Calderon and put her in a headlock and Kinnear stabbed her.
