Public's Help Sought To Locate Man Wanted For Killing Small Dog In LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Animal Cruelty Task Force detectives sought the public's help Tuesday with providing information that would lead to the arrest of a man who is wanted for the killing of a small dog in Los Angeles.

A witness reported observing a small dog jump out from a Dodge Caravan around 1:30 p.m. on May 14 in the 1600 block of East First Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police said the driver exited the Caravan and chased the dog down the street. Once he caught the dog, he punched it and threw it onto the sidewalk several times until it died.

The man then returned to his car and fled from the location, leaving the dog behind.

Authorities said the witness photographed the vehicle -- a 1996 to 2000 silver or gray Caravan that has an off-color rear bumper -- involved in the crime and notified authorities.

Detectives described the suspect as a Caucasian man who is believed to be between the ages of 50 to 60, weighs around 280 pounds, stands no taller than 6-foot-2 tall and has balding gray hair.

Anyone who may see the suspect's vehicle should notify the Los Angeles Police Department's Animal Cruelty Task Force at (213) 486-0450.
