Man Found Guilty Of Murdering Boss At Silver Lake Construction Site

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Officials Wednesday announced a 21-year-old man has been found guilty of murdering his boss at a construction site in Silver Lake.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, jurors found Christian Valdez guilt of second-degree murder on Tuesday.

According to police, Valdez worked with the victim, Juan Sanchez, in the 4200 block of Burns Avenue.

In May 2014, the victim ordered Valdez to go home after he showed up to work drunk.

Valdez proceeded to borrow Sanchez's vehicle, however, he managed to crash it into a parked car.

Police said the victim hoped Valdez would pay for the damage to the vehicle.

Instead, Valdez returned to work on May 22, 2014, and used a sledgehammer and hammer to bludgeon Sanchez to death, prosecutors said.

Police explained Valdez fled from the scene, but was subsequently arrested a short time later.

He is scheduled to appear in court on May 4, and faces a maximum sentence of up to 15 years to life in state prison.
