Man Charged With Murder For Girlfriend's Shooting Death In Pasadena

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — An 18-year-old man was charged Wednesday with murder in the fatal shooting of his live-in girlfriend in Pasadena.

JonJon Crummie is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in connection with the death of 19-year-old Irais Acosta, who was shot about 8:45 a.m. Sunday in a bedroom they shared at his parents' Raymond Avenue home.

Crummie was arrested about 4 p.m. Monday at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. Authorities said his mother facilitated the surrender after bringing him to the hospital, where he was detained by sheriff's personnel until Pasadena police arrived.

The charge against Crummie includes an allegation that he used a handgun. If convicted as charged, he faces up to 50 years to life in state prison, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

The homicide was Pasadena's first this year.
