Man, 22, Arrested In Fatal Hollywood Nightclub Shooting
HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A 22-year-old Los Angeles man was in custody Thursday in Las Vegas in connection with a deadly shooting in front of a Hollywood nightclub.
Robert Earl Thomas III was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of shooting 19-year-old Andre Lowe around 2 a.m. Sunday at the Empire Night Club on N. Cahuenga Blvd.
"Basically, the club was shutting down. We were on our way out. A couple girls got into a scuffle. A couple guys tried to get involved to break it up and while that was going on I guess the guys got a little heated," Jeffrey Valera, a witness, told CBS2's Joy Benedict.
"Heard a few threatening statements, heard a few slurs and after that I heard a few terms that mean gun and about five seconds later, some gunshots happened. Three, four or five gunshots. I just grabbed my little brother and pulled him down behind a car and we just ducked down," Valera said.
Lowe was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A second victim, also a man, was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the fight. The third victim, identified as a woman, was treated at the scene after a bullet ricocheted off her leg.
Legal proceedings are pending Thomas' return to Los Angeles.
