Los Angeles Dodgers Set To Hire Dave Roberts As New Manager

LOS ANGELES ( — The Dodgers have found their man.

The Dodgers are expected to announce the hiring of Dave Roberts as the team's new manager, replacing Don Mattingly.

Roberts played with the Dodgers from 2002-2004, and had stints with the Indians, Red Sox, Padres and Giants during his 9-year MLB career.

Roberts was most recently the bench coach for the San Diego Padres, but he did manage one game in the interim when the Padres fired Bud Black in the middle of last season.

Roberts was with the Padres for six seasons, starting as a special assistant in baseball operations in 2010, then was first base coach in San Diego for three seasons, then was moved to the bench coach for 2014-15.

He is known for "the steal" in the 2004 World Series, when he was a member of the Red Sox.

Roberts attended Rancho Buena Vista High School in Vista, California, before attending UCLA to play his collegiate baseball.
