Long Beach State Buried By Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Kyle Cain had 12 points and 16 rebounds, Ty Abbott added 15 points and Arizona State used a big second-half run

to pull away for a 72-55 victory over Long Beach State Tuesday night.

Arizona State (6-4) overcame some shaky moments defensively in the early going and blew it open with a 16-4 run to start the

second half for its third straight win.

Trent Lockett added 10 points for the Sun Devils, who face North Carolina A&T on Thursday before opening their Pac-10 season at Oregon State next week.

Long Beach State (5-8) opened strong and faded late for the second time in three days to lose its fourth straight.

Greg Plater had 15 points and T.J. Robinson had 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead the 49ers, who shot 33 percent to end a tough nonconference schedule.
