Leuzinger High Student, 16, Arrested For Threats Against Lawndale High School

LAWNDALE (CBSLA.com) — A 16-year-old male student from Leuzinger High School is in custody Thursday on suspicion of threatening Lawndale High School on social media.

Deputies at the South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station received reports about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday that a threat had been made on a social media app, "indicating that a school shooting will take place at Lawndale High School (Thursday)" sheriff's officials said.

The sheriff's department sent extra deputies to Lawndale High School, as detectives conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of a 16-year-old Leuzinger High School student as the person responsible for posting the threat, authorities said.

The boy, whose name was not released, has been taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats.

Leuzinger High School is a neighboring high school within the City of Lawndale.

The reason for the threat is under investigation, officials said.
