Guests are served comfort food along with laughs as they are entertained by a lineup of big-name comedians, including Dane Cooke, Paul Mooney and Paul Rodriguez.

"Far more than the applause and the appreciation is the one-on-one conversations and the people that I've met, and grown with, over the years in the community," Cooke said.

More than 2,800 people took turns eating turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings at Jamie Masada's comedy establishment.

Masada said it's a far cry from the first time he offered the meals, when just 60 people showed up. He said he also serves up free meals on Thanksgiving.

"It's a good place to forget your troubles for a couple hours and enjoy the holidays," said one guest.

Thousands of toys were handed out to the hundreds of children lined up with their families out the door and around the block.

"Our economy is very bad, we know that, and it's just wonderful to see these kids smile and eat," Mooney said.
