LAPD Arrests 2nd Airport Employee In Connection With Dry Ice Bombs At LAX

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — A second airport employee has been arrested for his alleged role in setting off dry ice bombs at Los Angeles International Airport, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Miguel Angel Iniguez, 41, was arrested Friday while at work and booked on suspicion of possessing a destructive device near an aircraft. He's being held on $500,000 bail.

Iniguez was a supervisor for Servisair, a contract service company at LAX, and oversaw the work of 28-year-old Dicarlo Bennett, who was arrested Tuesday night for reportedly setting the devices. He pleaded not guilty Thursday to two counts of possessing a destructive device in a public place.

A law enforcement official briefed on the investigation, but was not authorized to speak publicly, said Bennett was riding in a van with several people, including a supervisor, when he decided to make the dry ice bombs in plastic bottles Sunday night.

One exploded in an employee bathroom and another on the airport's tarmac. A third bottle that didn't detonate was found later.

A spokesperson for LAX said that the airport will work closely with LAX tenants to "ensure the safe and secure handling of dry ice throughout the airport."
