Landon Donovan Coming Out Of Retirement To Play For Galaxy

LOS ANGELES ( — One of Major League Soccer's greatest players, Landon Donovan, is coming out of retirement to play for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Donovan, 34, announced his return to the Galaxy Thursday on Facebook. He'll play the remainder of the 2016 season with the team.

The soccer star retired shortly after leading the Galaxy to the MLS Cup title in December 2014 -- Donovan's fourth MLS title. Earlier that year, he was cut by the U.S. national team ahead of the 2014 World Cup,


Donovan is the all-time leader in goals in Major League Soccer and was twice named the league MVP.

The Galaxy are currently in third place in the Western Conference, trailing FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake, with 44 points.
