Lakers To Honor 1986-87 Championship Team With Showtime-Era Throwback Jerseys
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Lakers will pay homage to the 1986-87 NBA championship team Friday by sporting some Showtime-era throwback jerseys.
The Lakers, who host the Warriors Friday, gave a sneak peak of the "Hardwood Classics" jerseys on their Twitter page Thursday morning.
Thirty years ago, the Lakers -- led by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy and, of course, Magic Johnson -- beat the Nuggets, Warriors and SuperSonics in the playoffs before defeating the Celtics in the finals.
This season, they will wear the Showtime-era throwback jerseys against each of those teams except the SuperSonics, who moved away from Seattle and became the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2008.
