Kaiser Mental Health Workers Begin Weeklong Strike At Calif. Hospitals
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Mental health professionals working at Kaiser Permanente hospitals Monday began a weeklong statewide strike protesting the provider's "chronic failure to provide . . . quality mental health care."
The National Union of Healthcare Workers said picketing will take place at West Los Angeles Medical Center, Anaheim Medical Center and Fontana Medical Center.
"Kaiser Permanente's 2,600 California mental health clinicians -- psychologists, therapists, and social workers represented by the (NUHW) --will launch a statewide strike (today) to protest Kaiser's chronic failure to provide its members with timely, quality mental health care," the union said in a statement.
Picketing will take place at more than 30 other California Kaiser locations.
