Jewish Singles Mingle At Matzoball In Hollywood

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — On Christmas Eve, many Jewish people go to the movies, or maybe a Chinese restaurant.

But for others, the night is a chance to potentially find their perfect match -- at an event called the Matzoball.

It's among the biggest Jewish singles event of the year -- and an alternative to swiping on dating apps.

"You have more face-to-face, in-person connections versus meeting someone online," said one attendee, Jared Loptman.

The event has been going on since 1987 and it claims to be responsible for at least 1,000 marriages. There are also events in other cities, including New York, Miami, and San Diego.

Matzoball founder Andy Rudnick even met his wife at a Matzoball party.

Many attendees said even if they don't fine their soulmate at the event, it's still a chance to meet new friends.

But Jared Loptman was hopeful that he could meet his match at the event.

"I'm hoping that I meet a nice girl. A nice Jewish girl," he said.
