Jane Fonda Cements Her Place In Hollywood History At Chinese Theatre

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com)  — Oscar-winner Jane Fonda cemented her place in Hollywood history Saturday outside the TCL Chinese Theatre.

The ceremony was part of the four-day TCM Classic Film Festival.

Following the cement event, Fonda introduced a screening of the classic "On Golden Pond," the only film she made with her father, Henry Fonda.

"We couldn't be happier to be able to salute Jane Fonda at the TCM Classic Film Festival," said Robert Osborne, the Turner Classic Movies host who also served as the day's MC.

"She's an extraordinary actress and a truly fascinating woman, and despite her two Academy Awards, too little has been said and written about all those amazing, top-tier films she's made."

Fonda won the first of her two best actress Oscars in 1972 for "Klute" where she played a New York City prostitute caught up in a missing persons case. Her second came in 1979 for the tear-jerker Vietnam War-era romantic drama "Coming Home."

Fonda received four other best actress Oscar nominations -- "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?," "Julia," "The China Syndrome" and "The Morning After." She had a best supporting actress nomination for the aforementioned "On Golden Pond."

Her other memorable films include "Cat Ballou," "Barefoot in the Park," "Barbarella," "Fun with Dick and Jane," "The Electric Horseman" and "9 to 5."

Fonda has two films set to be released later this year, "The Butler," where she portrays Nancy Reagan, and "Better Living Through Chemistry."
