Homicide Detectives Investigating Death Of Victorville Mother Found In Home

VICTORVILLE (CBSLA.com) — Detectives are conducting a murder investigation after they say the body of a 20-year-old mother was found in her Victorville apartment.

The body of Sofia Adams was discovered at the residence, located Hesperia Road and 8th Street, Tuesday afternoon.

Homicide detectives were seen going in and out of Adams' unit throughout the day.

Adams' relatives say she had recently graduated high school, enrolled in college and had dreams for herself and her small child.

"All she wanted was to be a good mom," her cousin, who wished to go by Val, said.

Neighbor Anita Milligan says another tenant had been picking on Adams and suspects the two possibly got into a dispute over a parking spot that could've led to the young mother's death.

"That's wrong, she didn't deserve that ... Whoever did that was wrong. Which, I know on my heart who did it," Milligan said.

"Detectives have found no evidence to support a rumor which suggested a neighbor whom Adams had a dispute with had anything to do with Adams' death," said John McMahon, Sheriff-Coroner of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Sofie's relatives say she was afraid of a tenant in her complex and called police to complain several times.

"She was scared for her life. She didn't want to make a big deal out of it. Now look at her," Adams' cousin, Val, said.

Family members held a vigil outside Adams' apartment Tuesday night.

No arrests had been made at the time of this report.

Detectives say they are still conducting interviews.
