45 MPH Winds Hit Southern California Coast; High Surf Advisory Issued

SEAL BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Winds reached speeds of up to 45mph on Friday as the Southland witnessed one of the windiest days of the year.

Rough waters and huge waves were also present along the coast today.

According to the National Weather Service, a high surf advisory will remain in effect along the shoreline through Saturday morning.

Waves are expected to reach between 10 and 12 feet in some areas today.

On Thursday, huge waves and big swells were seen in Huntington Beach.

Lifeguards warned swimmers of dangerous conditions.

According to forecasters, the high surf could cause flooding and beach erosion in coastal areas.

Residents can pick up free sang bags at the 8th and 10th streets parking lots. Local fire stations will also provide the sand bags.
