RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com/AP) — No one was hurt after a helicopter crashed Thursday on the runway of the Riverside Municipal Airport.

Officials reported the crash on the airport's official Twitter account shortly before 9 a.m. along 6951 Flight Road in Riverside.

The helicopter's two occupants were uninjured and no fire was reported following the crash, according to airport officials.

The crash occurred on the north side of the airport's runway near Central Avenue, officials said.

Riverside police and fire crews were on scene.

The crash involved a Robinson R22 copter that was taken out for a training run on one of the airport's runways, said Riverside Battalion Chief Michael Staley.

The Riverside airport has two runways on 451 acres 55 miles east of Los Angeles.
