Funeral Services Held For Mother, Son Killed While Crossing Street In Redondo Beach
REDONDO BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Funeral services were held Saturday for a 36-year-old woman and her 6-year-old son who were fatally struck by a car as they were leaving a student Christmas concert.
According to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the funeral began at 10:00 a.m. for Martha and Samuel Gaza, located at St. James Catholic Church located at 415 Vincent Street.
Around 8:00 p.m. on Dec. 17, 2014, Martha and Samuel were among about a dozen others who were struck by a motorist while crossing the street at the intersection of Vincent Street and Pacific Coast Highway.
Police explained Samuel was dragged by the car, until it struck another vehicle, which subsequently pinned him under a wheel.
Margo Bronstein, 56, of Redondo Beach, is accused of running a red light and driving the vehicle that fatally struck the group of pedestrians.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, she was charged with four counts of gross vehicular manslaughter and one count of driving under the influence of a drug.
Funeral services were already held for Mary Ann Wilson, 81, and Saeko Matsumura, 87, who were also killed in the crash.
