Crews Stop Forward Progress Of Brush Fire That Forced Evacuation Of Malibu Creek State Park Camp Sites

MALIBU (CBSLA) — Firefighters Sunday were responding to the Rockpool Fire in the Malibu area that prompted the closure of nearby campsites and roads.

The fire broke out before 2 p.m. near 1925 Las Virgenes Road and was estimated at 2 acres. Hours later it grew to 93 acres and was 33% contained as of Sunday night, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

Forward progress was stopped on the fire around 3:30 p.m. officials said, but officials remained on scene throughout the night to help with containment and putting out hot spots.
