Famous Adventurer Johnny Strange, 23, Dies While Wingsuiting In Switzerland

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) – Famed adventurer Johnny Strange, 23, has died in a wingsuit flying accident in Switzerland, relatives told KROQ 106.7.

The daredevil had just called in Monday morning for an interview on the radio station's "Kevin & Bean Show" before he posted the wingsuit flying video of himself you see here.

Kevin and Bean rolled a tribute for Strange, playing clips from his various appearances on the show, and were audibly shocked that the friend they had only just spoken with had passed away.

They posted a photo of Kevin and Strange during a 2012 visit to KROQ: "Johnny was an amazing & incredibly inspiring person ... We've loved following his adventures & are so grateful that we were able to catch up with him this past Monday from Switzerland ... We will miss you, Johnny."

Strange made national headlines at 17 for climbing the world's "seven summits," the highest mountain in each of the seven continents. He started this feat at 12, when he ascended Mt. Vinson Massif in Antarctica.

Strange also made his mark locally with stunts such as skateboarding on the southbound 405 Freeway when it was closed during "carmageddon."
