Family Grasping For Answers After Rancho Cucamonga Teen Dies At Party

RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA.com) — Bricia Contreras thought her son, Ramiro, was going to a friend's house for a sleepover this weekend.

But the 15-year-old never came home.

Contreras later learned her son had died at a two-story home in an upscale Rancho Cucamonga neighborhood around 4 a.m. Sunday. Neighbors described it as a teen party house lacking parental supervision.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies are trying to find out what led to his death.

So far, Contreras has just heard stories.

"They were just playing around in the back yard, dancing this techno dance, and he was pushed over, and fell, and hit the back of his head on a brick," Contreras said.

The mother says her son was supposed to spend the night at another friend's house but ended up at the party house without her knowledge.

"I'm not going to sit her and say that he didn't try drinking, he probably did, or even something else. I'm not going to say he never did. I don't know if he did," she said.

Contreras encourages other parents to avoid letting their teens attend sleepovers.

"It's unfortunate that you drop them off at one place and they turn out at another," she said. "If his story could help somebody else I'm more than happy to share it with anybody."

Deputies say they don't suspect foul play. Investigators and Contreras are waiting for the autopsy report.

Ramiro's funeral is planned for next week. His family has raised thousands of dollars in donations to fund the funeral.
