Failed Circuit Breaker Briefly Leaves 27,000 Westside Residents Without Power
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Roughly 27,000 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (DWP) customers in the Pacific Palisades and Westwood areas were without power for a couple of hours Wednesday.
Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded to the West Los Angeles area after a fire at a power facility caused a circuit breaker failure around 1:37 p.m., according to DWP spokeswoman Ellen Cheng.
The small fire was already out upon firefighters' arrival, LAFD spokesperson Margaret Stewart said.

A portion of a receiving station that services the affected area was de-energized about 10 minutes after that, Cheng said.
Power was fully restored to the area around 3:30 p.m., DWP officials told KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO.
The outage caused traffic lights to malfunction, triggering massive backups at some major intersections.
