HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Thousands of mysterious jelly-like creatures that washed up in Huntington Beach on Monday were likely a species of sea cucumbers, an expert said Tuesday.
Huntington Beach resident Don Coursey, who has been walking on the same stretch of beach with his wife for more than 30 years, said he had never seen anything like it.
He snapped photos when he encountered tens of thousands of the small jelly pods during his walk along the shoreline on Monday afternoon.
Bruno Pernet, a marine biologist at Cal State Long Beach, said the unusual sea life was probably washed ashore by last weekend's storm.
