CASTAIC (CBSLA.com) — An underground vault in the Castaic area exploded and temporarily knocked out power to 1,700 customers.
Footage over the scene just after 9 p.m. Monday showed manhole covers that had popped off presumably as a result of the electrical fire on Ridge Route Road.
The incident was reported about 8:20 p.m.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department along with the Sheriff's Department arrived on scene and blocked off the road.
By 9:40 p.m., the fire at the vault had been extinguished and most power had been restored.
