Eat A Free Short Stack For Charity During IHOP's National Pancake Day!

HOLLYWOOD ( — IHOP restaurants nationwide will give away free pancakes for National Pancake Day Tuesday in an effort to raise money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Customers will receive a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes in hopes they will leave a voluntary donation for charity.

Miss America 2014, Nina Davuluri, will flip and serve pancakes at the Hollywood IHOP and encourage guests to donate to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which raises funds for 170 nonprofit children's hospitals in the United States and Canada.

National Pancake Day was created by IHOP in 2006 and has raised nearly $14 million for charities.

The Glendale-based chain set a goal to raise $3 million Tuesday, which was nearly raised in 2013 after 4.5 million pancakes were given away nationwide.

The event stems from a tradition in England, called Pancake Day, where people would make pancakes from eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products in preparation for Lent.
