East LA Mexican Independence Day Parade To Honor Gio Dos Santos

 LOS ANGELES ( —   The 69th Annual East Los Angeles Mexican Independence Day Parade & Festival is set to be held on Sunday, September 13th.

The festival will honor new Los Angeles Galaxy forward and Mexican National Soccer team member Gio Dos Santos.

Dos Santos will be the Grand Marshal this year at the Mexican Independence Day Parade, which is set to begin at 10:30 am PT.

Born in Monterey, Mexico, Dos Santos is currently a member of the Los Angeles Galaxy, but played with Villarreal CF in the BBVA in Spain, prior to joining the club.

The Parade Godparents of this year's festival will be Patricia Lopez of Vista LA and Guillermo de Anda, a National Geographic Anthropologist.

The Honorable Grand Marshals will be Mayte' Perroni and Arath de la Torre.

In the 69th year of the parade, it is a symbol of union and happiness, with each year surpassing the expected attendance.

The parade will also be honoring the 84th anniversary of the formation of its committee and organizer, Comite' Mexicano Civico Patriotico, which has stood as an important aspect of the Mexican-American community in Los Angeles since its birth in 1931.

The parade route will start at Mednik St. and end at Gage ave, going through E Cesar Chavez Blvd.

The celebration will have musical performances, entertainment, attractions, food, merchandise and more.
