Driver, 28, Crashes Into Home, Another Vehicle During Pursuit

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A 28-year-old Oxnard man crashed into a home and another vehicle on Sunday morning during a police pursuit.

Officials said at around 10:30 a.m., they tried to stop Jess Gonzalez of Oxnard for a vehicle code violation involving his white Ford pickup.

Authorities said Gonzalez fled and led police on a two-minute, two-mile pursuit.

Police said Gonzalez committed "numerous violations" during the pursuit.

While attempting to negotiate a turn at the intersection of E Street and Ninth Street, officials said Gonzalez collided with a black Infiniti that was stopped at the intersection.

Gonzalez' vehicle then crashed into a residence in the 900 block of South E Street, said police.

Authorities said Gonzalez was detained following a brief foot pursuit. He was not injured.

The driver of the Infiniti, 49-year-old Lorenzo Avila of Oxnard, sustained minor injuries in the crash. He was taken to Ventura County Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Danielle Everett, a passenger in Gonzalez' pickup, also received minor injuries. She was taken to St. John's Regional Medical Center.

No one in the residence was hurt.

Gonzalez was arrested for felony evading and felony hit and run.
