Investigators determined that a Honda Civic was speeding westbound on 7th Street when the driver lost control of the car and crashed into a Honda Accord, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The two drivers were pronounced dead by first responders.

Police identified the driver of the Honda Accord as 37-year-old Salvador Medina from Long Beach. The Los Angeles County Office of the Medical Examiner has not identified the driver who veered onto the wrong side of the road.

Officers are asking the public to avoid Seventh Street between Bellflower Boulevard and Santiago Avenue due to an ongoing investigation at the accident site.
