Dodgers Scratch Ryu From Friday Start

DENVER (CBSLA.com/AP) — A back injury suffered by Hyun-Jin Ryu has forced the Los Angeles Dodgers to scratch the left-hander from his scheduled start Friday at Cincinnati.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly, speaking before Wednesday night's game at Colorado, said right-hander Chris Capuano (4-7) would start in place of Ryu (13-5). He'll be opposed by the Reds' Mike Leake (11-6).

The Dodgers are off on Thursday.

Ryu has a 3.02 ERA and has thrown 167 innings for the Dodgers this year, striking out 139 batters.

This is Ryu's first season in the major leagues after making a name for himself in Korea.
