Dodgers Foundation Helps Open 3 New Community School Parks

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation donated an $11,000 grant that will help create community centers at Berendo Middle School, Leo Politi Elementary School and Esperanza Elementary School.

The LADF will partner with People for Parks to host an opening ceremony on Saturday at Berendo Middle School.

The event will include remarks from LADF Executive Director Nichol Whiteman, Dodger alumnus Tommy Davis, Ana Gomez, Field Deputy, Councilman Gil Cedillo's office, and LAUSD school board member Monica Garcia.

In total, LADF has supported three community parks. All now have the resources needed for programming and supervision.

People for Parks works for the day when all kids in Los Angeles live within walking distance of a safe park. People for Parks works toward finding creative solutions in order to add new park spaces in dense, low-income neighborhoods.
