Dodgers Collection Takes Center Stage At Reopening Of Sports Museum Of LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Dodgers' dynasty is on display at the Sports Museum of Los Angeles near downtown.

On display at the warehouse-turned-museum at the corner of Washington Boulevard and Main Street are uniforms dating back to the Brooklyn Dodgers, among other memorabilia.

It's not far from where the Boys in Blue started playing their games in Los Angeles: the LA Coliseum.

"I'm here every day and I see something new," said Sal Martinez of the Sports Museum of Los Angeles.

All the memorabilia on display was collected by Gary Cypress, who simply says it's now time to share it all to the public.

"We've got it all. It's like going to a history lesson," said Martinez.

The museum also includes a picture of the first baseball game ever broadcast on television dating back to Aug. 26, 1939. W2XBS was the channel and only about 300 people were able to see the game on their vintage, 1939 television sets.

And coming this fall, a new wing will open for the Los Angeles Rams.

The museum will open to the public Saturday at 10 a.m. Admission for adults is $15.
