Police are still searching for the suspect who they believe fatally stabbed a man in downtown Los Angeles in August of last year.

It happened on Aug. 6, 2024 at around 8:55 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. It was then that officers were dispatched to Westlake Avenue and Sixth Street after learning of a stabbing in the area.

It was there that they found 24-year-old Joey Darnell Thomas suffering from deadly stab wounds.

They were unable to locate the suspect at the time and have been searching for him since. In an effort to revitalize the investigation, which has seen all leads exhausted, they've released surveillance footage of the man they believe to be the attacker as he walks in the downtown area.

A motive for the incident has not yet been determined.

"The City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Police Department are seeking to provide Thomas' family with justice and closure for the loss of their family member, and are seeking the public's assistance in locating the person responsible for this senseless murder," LAPD's press release said.

A $50,000 reward has also been approved by the Los Angeles City Council for information that leads to the man's arrest and conviction.

Anyone who knows more is urged to contact detectives at (213) 996-4118.
