Deaf Man Robbed At Knife Point, Beaten In Corona

CORONA (CBSLA.com) — A deaf man was robbed at knife point and beaten outside of a library in Corona, police said Friday.

The crime, which was captured on surveillance video, occurred around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when the victim was standing outside the Corona Library in the 600 block of South Main Street.

The three suspects approached the man and took an unknown amount of money from his hand, according to Corona police.

"When the victim attempted to grab his money back, he was assaulted by all three suspects and robbed at knife point," Senior Det. Dan Bloomfield said.

The victim suffered minor injuries to his head in the attack.

The unknown suspects fled the scene on foot toward the Corona Regional Medical Center.

The suspects are described as a black male in his early 20s, last seen wearing a red and black plaid shirt, black t-shirt, dirty jeans and a black baseball hat; a Hispanic male, about 20-years-old, wearing a dark hoodie and black shoes; and a Hispanic male, about 18-to-20-years-old, with a thin build, wearing a dark jacket, gray pants, and backwards gray baseball hat.

"The black male suspect is believed to be homeless living in the area of W. Ninth St. in Corona," Det. Bloomfield said.
