Coroner Identifies Woman Killed By Tree In Costa Mesa

COSTA MESA (CBS) — Officials have identified the woman who was killed when a towering eucalyptus tree fell, crushing her car.

Haeyoon Miller,29, of Tustin, was running an errand on Irvine Avenue near Westcliff Drive in Costa Mesa Thursday afternoon when the tree came down on top of her vehicle.

Witnesses say Miller swerved but could not get out of the way of the tree. She was trapped in the wreckage and died before firefighters could free her.

Officials say the tree was maintained by the city of Newport Beach and there is an ongoing investigation into why it fell.
