Coastal Flood Advisory Issued For Orange, San Diego Counties
SEAL BEACH (CBSLA.com) — The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood advisory Tuesday for Orange and San Diego counties.
Forecasters said above average tide levels, which are being referred to as King Tides, are expected to strike in the hour after dawn today.
The highest tide is expected to be at least two feet higher than normal on Wednesday, reaching 7.6 feet tall. The waves will progressively decrease as the week continues.
In Orange County, Sunset and Seal beaches are considered the most susceptible areas for localized flooding.
Authorities will provide sand bags at fire houses and lifeguard stations for those who want to take extra precautions.
Cardiff, La Jolla, Oceanside, South Mission and Imperial beaches are likely to experience some inundation in San Diego County.
Officials advised beach parking lots, nearby streets and structures may be briefly under water. Stronger rip currents may also be present off-shore.
The coastal flood advisory will remain in effect until midday on Friday.
