City Council Offers $75K Reward In Murder Of 2 USC Grad Students
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The Los Angeles City Council announced a $75,000 reward Tuesday in the slaying of two USC graduate students last week.
Councilman Bernard Parks introduced the award at 10 a.m. with Councilwoman Jan Perry.
Ying Wu and Ming Qu were found shot to death in the 2700 block of Raymond Avenue near West 27th Street shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
Paramedics took the 23-year-old victims to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
LAPD Cmdr. Andy Smith, a department spokesman, said Wu and Qu were sitting in a car that was double-parked on the street when they were shot. The motive is unclear, but the shooting may have been a bungled carjacking, he said.
Both students were studying electrical engineering.
USC has already offered a $125,000 reward.
