Care Harbor Opens To Treat Patients Without Health Insurance

LOS ANGELES ( — A four-day free health clinic opened Thursday at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, providing medical care for thousands of people without insurance.

Volunteer doctors and dentists working with the Los Angeles nonprofit Care Harbor will examine and treat patients through Sunday. Admission wristbands were distributed earlier this week.

As many as 1,000 people a day have been treated at past clinics. During a four-day clinic last year, Care Harbor provided free medical services to 3,111 patients, providing more than 20,000 health care services. More than 2,900 health care professionals volunteered at last year's event.

A total of 13,620 patients have been treated at the four clinics Care Harbor has provided over the past four years, according to the organization. The patients received 56,742 medical, dental and vision services; 5,732 immunizations; and 22,390 screenings.
