Riverside County man arrested after human remains found during homicide investigation

A Riverside County man was arrested on Saturday after human remains were found during a homicide investigation, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. 

In a news release shared by the department, deputies said the remains were discovered near Williams Avenue and Poplar Street in Cabazon as part of an "ongoing homicide investigation."

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been disclosed, but investigators said that 48-year-old Cabazon man Jesse Kennedy was arrested as the suspect, according to the release. 

"Kennedy was located in the area of Williams Avenue and Poplar Street, where he was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for murder," the release said.

Deputies said that the victim's identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, and that no further details would be released as the investigation was active and ongoing.
