Parolee Wanted For Burglarizing Home In Rancho Palos Verdes

RANCHO PALOS VERDES (CBSLA.com) — Detectives Thursday sought the public's help to locate a residential burglary suspect in Rancho Palos Verdes.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, surveillance video captured Canyon Country resident Rakan Helo, 25, burglarizing a home around 9:00 a.m. Wednesday in the 6100 block of Arrowroot Lane.

"Upon arrival, deputies discovered a smashed glass door and confirmed a burglary had occurred," said Sgt. Thomas Arellano. "However, [Helo] had already fled the location. Security video captured [Helo] in the act of breaking the glass door, which was determined to be the point of entry."

A preliminary investigation revealed he posed as a solicitor for solar energy in the neighborhood prior to committing the burglary.

Detectives described Helo as a bald Hispanic man who has brown eyes, brown or black facial hair, stands 5-foot-9 tall and weighs 200 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a brown brimmed hat, black framed prescription glasses, a navy blue denim shirt and pants.

The vehicle was described as a white or gray 1997 Lexus four door sedan that has a sunroof and California license plate that reads: "6GSP241."

Authorities said Helo is on active parole for witness intimidation and is considered armed and dangerous.

He is known to frequent the areas of Canyon Country, Malibu and Chatsworth.

Anyone with information regarding Helo's whereabouts has been urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department at (310) 891-3213.
