Bicycle-Riding Carson Man Allegedly Caught With Meth, Sawed-Off Shotgun

CARSON (CBSLA.com) — A Carson man faced drug- and firearm-related charges Friday after he was allegedly caught with a sawed-off shotgun while riding a bicycle, authorities said.

Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Carson Station stopped Ruben Lozano, 20, late Tuesday afternoon along the 2600 block of Washington Street after seeing him commit a vehicle code violation while on the bike, authorities said.

After Lozano told them he was in possession of illegal narcotics, they searched Lozano and found what appeared to be methamphetamine, as well as a sawed-off shotgun in a billiards equipment bag he was carrying, according to deputies.

It was unclear why Lozano was carrying the shotgun, but deputies say there was no evidence he had been involved in a crime.

Lozano was booked at Carson Station on $10,000 bail, according to officials.
