The best art this spring is to be found in an eclectic mix from the surreal to formal gardens and origami, in an urban cityscape or with indoor collections and from world-class photography to impressionistic works. In all, a holistic environment enhances art on display or in action. Southlanders can celebrate another spring through creative genius and interpretation or with realistic renditions. These five opportunities evoke the shocking and sublime beginnings of the season of renewal.

Date: March 22-23, 2014 at 9am
The cherry tree's brilliant pink blossoms announce spring's advent, and at the Cherry Blossom Festival in March, the Descanso Gardens are bringing Japan's cultural tradition to the Southland once again. The entire event is a reverent welcoming of the season of rebirth. Cherry trees will be on sale, the art of origami is to be demonstrated, Minyo Station will meld western pop and Japanese traditional music in concert, and more. The garden, in and of itself, is a demonstration of the art of gardening. The sedate and sublime essence of that tradition is enjoyed amid the refined gardens with fine cuisine, enactments and guided walks.
