The holiday theme is based on tradition, nostalgia and magical holiday moments. While waiting in line on Black Friday to visit with Santa, shoppers can walk through life-sized ornaments and check out trees with interactive touch screens, one of which is a custom game that Westfield is developing with GES that allows kids to decorate a tree and explore other holiday items on the screen, such as stockings, a clock, a snow globe and an elf, all of which reveal unique surprises. Black Friday shoppers can also enjoy holiday music, lighting projections and familiar holiday scents while Santa sits in his ornamental throne ready for photos and collecting holiday wishes.  Westfield Topanga also offers a Santa Fast Pass. Customers may purchase their photo packages in advance via a microsite and will be granted access to a special Fast Pass line when they arrive (must show printed receipt or the receipt on a smartphone).

Black Friday will begin at the stroke of midnight at some of Glendale Galleria's stores. The mall "officially" opens at 5 a.m., but there will be plenty of early birds on the shopping scene immediately following Thanksgiving festivities. Last year, the Disney Store led the way with a midnight opening and shoppers are eagerly anticipating the store's announcement for this year. Known for its holiday cheer on Black Friday, Glendale Galleria will have the center's traditional singing Santa and Glendale Galleria holiday ambassadors assisting customers with their shopping needs, including gift certificates and lottery tickets for those hard-to-buy-for friends and loved ones. If you're not in the area, Moreno Valley Mall and Montclair Plaza will open its doors at 6 a.m. with some stores also offering midnight openings.

Join fellow SoCal Black Friday enthusiasts at Westfield Century City and participate in a mall-wide Scavenger Hunt (Nov. 14 to Dec. 24). Customers are invited to play "find the ornament," an interactive scavenger hunt in which you search for 25 ornament stickers placed on retailer store windows or other areas of the mall and take a picture of the "found" ornaments using a smartphone or camera. Once you find five of the ornaments, visit the concierge/office to receive a limited-edition holiday ornament. In addition, Westfield Century City is launching a holiday promotion that gives back to the community through art. Beginning Nov. 14, popular artists including Greg Miller, Man One, David Phillips, Marilinda Rivera, Yolanda González and Johnny Taylor will paint reindeer that will be on display at the mall. The reindeer will then be auctioned off by charitybuzz.com to benefit Inner City Arts, a non-profit organization that works in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District to bring elementary and middle school students to the campus during the school day for instruction in the visual and performing arts.
