Music classes and studies geared towards adults often inspire deep-seeded passions. With a multitude of music schools in Los Angeles that offer private and group lessons for adults, it can be tough to choose a specific one. Many are often seperated by age and experience, so if you're a beginner and have been longing to play the flute, strum the uke or sing your favorite song, check out these five music schools in L.A.

Hollywood Academy of Music offers both private and group lessons for adults covering a range of instruments - voice, drums, strings, reeds as well as song writing and recording engineering lessons. University-trained music teachers work with adults as well as children as young as two years old. To ensure that the students are equipped to learn in the best environment, students have the option of choosing from pop or rock to jazz or classical instruction. Also, there is no pressure to perform; at Hollywood Academy of Music students have the option to participate in "low pressure recitals" twice a year at no charge.

Since 1958, some of the best musicians have played the intimate concert theatre at McCabe's, making it a world-class stop for artists to hang out and jam (classic country jam, bluegrass and acoustic blues are just a few examples of jam classes). For a wide selection, you'll want to check out the store's offering of stringed instruments which will help improve technique, and enhance your musical talents. Specializing in selling and instructing students on acoustic and folk instruments (think guitars, banjos, mandolins, fiddles, sitars and more), McCabe's also features a group harmony singing class led by Lawrence Lebo and culminating in a holiday concert in the winter months. All ages and levels are encouraged to participate.

With its prime focus on African drumming and percussions, Motherland Music offers beginning djembe drumming, all levels of Senegalese djembe and djun-djun drumming, West African chants and rhythms and more for their music classes.
