Broadly Speaking: Comedy That Makes You Think

This is Broadly Speaking's second charity performance show featuring comedy, interviews and a game show that will raise awareness of women's issues. AnnaLea Arnold and Kate Luhr are the masterminds behind the event that promises to provide awareness through entertainment. Tickets are on sale online for $10. Proceeds from the show, as well as donations, will be given to Mothers Fighting for Others.

Born and raised in Maui, Keali'i Reichel is one of Hawaii's most popular and prolific musical artists, and has opened for famous acts such as Celine Dion, Bonnie Raitt, LeAnn Rimes as well as Sting. His style speaks to the tradition of Hawaiian music, chanting and hulu, in addition to incorporating contemporary elements. The show begins at 8pm, with tickets available online or by phone.

Each Wednesday, art fanatics can enjoy Lunchtime Art Talks at 12:30p at the Hammer Museum in Westwood. The free, 15 minute discussions provide information about work currently on exhibit at the museum and are a fascinating event to attend. Currently, the work of Andra Ursuta is on display, and Hammer Museum curator Ali Subotnick will lead the discussion. Admission is free. Andra Ursuta creates sculptures and installations which are often poignant, self-deprecating and melancholy. Mixing plaster, marble, cement and other objects, Ursuta is one of the latest great artists.

This Westside dive has hosted live turtle races for nearly 40 years, and people continue to gather for a liquor-fueled, yet animal-friendly, night of amphibians fighting their way to the finish line. Bring your own turtle, or just grab a spot to cheer them on. The competition starts at 9pm, and it is hosted every Thursday night.

L.A. Fashion Week comes to an end with a chic blowout in Hollywood. Runway Magazine's spring issue release party will start with the red carpet of course, followed by a show and after party. This Saturday, Elmo and Cookie Monster will make appearances at the L.A. Zoo, and fans of the long-running show are invited to have their photo taken. The event takes place on Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th from 11am-3pm and is a great event to bring your kids to for some fun outside. This opportunity is free to GLAZA members and with paid Zoo admission.

If you have an appreciation for all things handmade, head over to The Craft in America Center for a book signing featuring Peter Korn. Korn is a furniture maker, Executive Director of the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Maine and the author of Why We Make Things and Why It Matters: The Education of a Craftsman and will lead a discussion on the pivotal role of craftsmanship in today's world.
