Papa Cristo's is a neighborhood favorite and yet another delicious reason to head to South LA. In business for more than 65 years, Papa Cristo's uses fresh ingredients, quality cuts of fish, beef, lamb and chicken. The octopodakia is the customer favorite but if baby octopus and slabs of animals aren't your thing, there are plenty of enjoyable vegetarian dishes available. Bring the family on Thursdays for The Big Fat Greek family-style meal.

Driving down Ventura Boulevard through Sherman Oaks, it's hard to miss The Great Greeks' blue awning. And if you've eaten here, you know it's like a beacon for really great Greek food. It's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu, but customer favorites are the cognac-flamed cheese saganaki (flamed at your table), the spanakopita, pasta with braised lamb and the pastitsio, which is like the Greek version of mac 'n cheese.
