With all the health conscious restaurants around these days, most people tend to avoid those fast-food restaurants deemed unhealthy. But, surprisingly, in addition to the Big Macs and Double Double hamburgers, many of the fast-food establishments have put items on their menu to cater to those health minded patrons. Sure, we could fill this list with McDonalds and Carls Jr, but what's the fun in that? These are the best fast-food spots in LA.

Could a fast food list exist without this beloved fast food establishment? Of course not. To the envious other states that don't have In-N-Out, this fast food chain boasts itself as California's first drive-thru, which opened in 1945 in Baldwin Park, located in San Gabriel Valley. Now famed for their burgers, fries and grilled cheese sandwiches, patrons here love to order some of the more secretive items that aren't on the menu. The "animal-style" option can be applied to their burgers and fries for example, their "Animal Style" option is one of In-N-Out's most popular "secret" styles. In addition to the standard toppings, burgers and fries include extra spread, grilled onions, and mustard fried onto each meat patty.

When it came to quick Mexican food, it used to be Baja Fresh that came to mind. But, some time in the past several years, the Baja Fresh locations seemed to magically disappear and Chipotle took over as LA's (and the country's) preeminent Mexican fast food chain. Leading the pack for tasty Mexican fare, the architecture at each of their locations may look to be very no-frills, but the food is anything but. From burrito bowls with your choice of meat and anything else you want in it, to corn or soft tacos and regular burritos, the food here is as good as it gets. They boast that their meat is responsibly raised and their veggies and other trappings like rice and beans are more original than other places.

Sure, Chick-fil-A is new to the LA scene, but that doesn't mean it's wasn't going to make our best of list. Known mostly in the south, Chick-fil-A has only recently spread west and with big fan fare. This quick service fast food restaurant chain is known for their chicken sandwiches and crisscut fries. Famous for their religious rule of being closed on Sundays, lovers of this chain don't seem to mind they can't get their chicken sandwich fix on the lord's day. Aside from making tasty chicken sandwiches, this fast food spot is known for great customer service too.

There's pretty much a Subway sandwich location everywhere you look these days. And, the company likes it that way. Subway might be considered fast food, but that doesn't mean its unhealthy. Remember the whole Jared campaign, where an overweight man ate Subway day in and day out and lost a ton of weight (literally)? Well, Subway offers a place where you can walk in and watch them make the sandwich right in front of you. Choose from a variety of different breads, whether you want it toasted, the type of meat you want, and what vegetables you want and you've just been a part of making your meal without having put in any effort. There are plenty of pre-made selections you can choose from on the menu, or make your own delicious sandwich!

With locations around LA, Fatburger easily makes our list for their mouthwatering burgers. You may think that a place that names itself "Fatburger" caters to the unhealthy, but this fast casual restaurant chain cooks their food made to order and is surprisingly not that unhealthy if you order the right things. The burgers, which you can get cooked on the char, are simply divine. With fresh 100% pure lean beef, patrons select what size (S, M, L, XXL, XXXL) they want, which then determines whether you want anywhere between a 2.5 oz burger or a 24 oz burger. Then, choose whatever fixings you want, like grilled onions, shredded lettuce, mushrooms and more, and your burger comes out within 5 minutes. They also offer sandwiches, like a grilled chicken sandwich, as well as a veggie burger and the fan favorite turkey burger.
