Although this weekend requires that you keep Dad in mind when making those Saturday and Sunday plans, there are plenty of other great activities that are ideal for everyone. Regardless of what you're into, there is a nice cross section of food, drink, and entertainment to soak in this weekend. Let's get your weekend started.

Little Saigon Night Market
Asian Garden Mall
9200 Bolsa Ave.
Westminster, CA 92683

Both the largest and the oldest Vietnamese community in the United States, Little Saigon is an important part of the cultural fabric of the area. Of course with any cultural exploration comes art, music, and food. The Night Market at the Asian Garden Mall functions as an evening hub throughout the summer months. Offering a bevy of food trucks, craft vendors, and live entertainment, visitors can explore the aisles while snacking well into the evening.

Chili At the Beach
Downtown Huntington Beach
200 Main St.
Huntington Beach, CA 92648

Not that you need a beautiful backdrop like the Huntington Beach Pier to enjoy some chili, but the downtown business along Main Street figured they'd provide the best of settings for some savory sampling. This is the 9th annual chili competition that pits local businesses against resident challengers to see who has the best spoonful of chili. With Duke's, Sandy's Grill, Killarney's, Longboards, Aloha Grill, 2nd Floor, Gallagher's, Spark Woodfire and Avila's El Ranchito among the businesses competing, the whole neighborhood gets involved in the food festival slash block party. With all proceeds benefitting the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington Valley, it makes the spend even sweeter. Adding in some live music and a craft beer garden, Main Street is seriously the perfect place to be come Saturday.

The Bruery
717 Dunn Way
Placentia, CA 92870
(714) 996-6258

You wouldn't be very far off by surprising the father in your life with a cold beer. Even if beer isn't particularly his thing, it's usually not something he'd pass up. However, liquid from The Bruery isn't just any beer. Critically heralded, the brewery in Placentia is responsible for producing some of the best craft beer in the nation. The modest digs don't do the beer justice as some of taps really are the fine dining of the beer brewing world. Whether the plan is to take home a few growlers to sip and share or to sit at the tasting room and discuss the intricacies of each pour, any time spent at The Bruery is an experience.

Father's Day Brunch
Tangata at the Bowers Museum
2002 N. Main St.
Santa Ana, CA 92706
(714) 550-0906

Brunch is the conventional meal plan for Mothers' Day, but we all know the way to any man's heart is through his stomach. Naturally, dad has to get his brunch on too. The folks at Tangata at the Bowers Museum have a menu that will definitely pique the interest of dear old dad as it is punctuated with a root beer float and cookie sandwich station. The fresh-carved prime rib, herb-crusted salmon, and classic cocktail options are likely to seal the deal. Tangata is a casual, albeit stylish dining destination with a penchant for details. Take dad for a bit of culture and finely-crafted cuisine in Santa Ana.

Father's Day Flick
The Sandlot
The Frida Cinema
305 E 4th St.
Santa Ana, CA 92701
(714) 285-9422

Though the Frida Cinema in Santa Ana is no stranger to our list of ideal places to visit in Orange County, this particular screening takes the cake. Pairing the timeless baseball flick, The Sandlot, with their Fathers' Day festivities is, pardon the pun, a home run. The movie crosses generational lines and reaches the inner schoolyard kid in all of us. Indulging in wholesome nostalgia, kind of the same way the television series The Wonder Years did, this tale of baseball and the beast is a guaranteed win with any father, son, grandpa, and or combination of the three. Surprise the papa in your life and take him to score some popcorn and take a load off.
